Ingalls School Farm

The Food Project’s North Shore urban farm is located at the Ingalls Elementary School in Lynn, MA. In 2005, The Food Project partnered with the Lynn Public School Department and Lynn Community Development to lease an acre of under-utilized land on the school’s grounds.

The food grown here supports our food access initiatives throughout the city of Lynn. This produce is distributed at multiple SNAP/HIP-accessible farmers’ markets in Lynn, various Lynn Elementary School farm stands, Greater Lynn Senior Services, mobile markets at Lynn Housing Authority complexes, local restaurants, and several hunger relief organizations. Drive by the Ingalls Farm on a summer day and you’ll see dozens of teenagers who have gathered together from Lynn and from the North Shore suburbs. These young people gain hands-on experience with urban farming, while participating in food security and social justice workshops, leading volunteers on the farm, and seeing the impact of their work first-hand by helping at the at the Lynn farmers’ markets.Â
