An update from The food project

Announcing our Interim Executive Director,

Jonathan Rosenthal

Dear TFP community,

Please join me in welcoming Jonathan Rosenthal as the Interim Executive Director of The Food Project. Jonathan brings more than twenty years of extraordinary leadership experience in global food and trade justice, the new economy, and organic and cooperative movements to our organization.

Early in his career, he co-founded and led Equal Exchange, the first worker-owned, fair trade coffee company. Since then, Jonathan has served as Executive Director for five organizations, and Interim Executive Director for three other organizations. He has a long history of governance service for nonprofits, currently serves on five boards, and is passionate about expanding diversity, equity and inclusion within companies and nonprofits.

As we had hoped, I have two full weeks to spend with Jonathan before I exit my role on August 12. I will be introducing him to The Food Project’s mission, programs, and facilities, as well as introducing him to the people we serve and those whose work makes it all possible. Appropriately, he begins his time with us by enjoying the fruits of our labor when he attends a Farm Lunch in Boston.

Jonathan says that coming to The Food Project is the right next step in his life’s work. “My entire career–my entire adult life–has been spent in pursuit of creating just relationships between people, food, and the environment. I’m particularly thrilled to be able to do what I love most, helping an organization as special as The Food Project through an important period of transition.”

I hope you have an opportunity to meet Jonathan over the weeks and months ahead. He’s looking forward to continuing the important conversation about the future of The Food Project with you. Reach out at any time.

Thank you for your continued support.

Gratefully,

Anne Hayes
Executive Director
