Our Serve & Grow program is great for college and community groups looking for service-learning opportunities. Bring your group to one of our farms to grow food for hunger relief organizations and local distribution.

In a three-hour program led by The Food Project staff, your group will:

  • Participate in educational games and discussions about the food system
  • Cultivate and maintain the land
  • Plant, tend, or harvest fresh vegetables
  • Have fun outside
  • Make a difference for those who lack healthy, affordable food in Greater Boston and on the North Shore

We do not host school groups with students under the age of 18. Community groups may bring volunteers ages 14 or older if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please review our frequently asked questions about volunteering with The Food Project.

To cover the costs of staffing the volunteer program and distributing the produce that your group will help plant, care for, and harvest, we ask for a contribution of $10/person. Please be in touch if such a contribution is prohibitive to your group participating in Serve & Grow.

We are will be hosting volunteers on our farms in the spring from April through June. Please fill out the form below or email Sarah Wiggins at [email protected] to schedule your volunteer outing.

The Food Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
