We offer the following group opportunities on our farms:
Service Learning for Community Groups and Schools
Our Serve & Grow program is great for school and community groups looking for service-leaning opportunities. Bring your students or community group members to one of our farms to grow food for hunger relief organizations and local distribution. In a 3-hour program led by The Food Project staff, your students or groups may:
- Participate in educational games and discussions about the food system
- Cultivate and maintain the land
- Plant, tend, or harvest fresh vegetables
- Have fun outside
- Make a difference for those who lack healthy, affordable food in the Greater Boston area
We work with Serve & Grow groups in the spring (April-June) at all of our farms:
Beverly - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30-12:30 and Saturdays, 9:45-12:30, groups of 25 people. Directions
Boston- Tuesdays and Saturdays, 9:30-12:30, groups of 25 people. Directions
Lincoln - Wednesdays and Saturdays in April; Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays in May and June, 9:30-12:30, groups of 30 people. Directions
Lynn - Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 9:30-12:30, groups of 20 people. Directions
Please review our frequently asked questions about volunteering with The Food Project.
We ask Serve & Grow groups to support our work by making a donation of $10 per person. This helps defray the cost of organizing and presenting the program and of distributing produce to local hunger relief organizations. If paying some or all of that cost is not possible for your group, please contact us to discuss the possibility of The Food Project subsidizing your visit.
To schedule a service learning visit for the spring, look at the calendar to see which dates are still available. Dates with the farm location listed are still open for groups. Then email participate@thefoodproject.org to schedule your group.
