Dudley Greenhouse Seeks Project Proposals


The Food Project (TFP) and the Dudley Greenhouse Advisory Committee (DGHAC) invites proposals from organizations and individuals who want to work in partnership to create greenhouse projects. Projects should address causes of food inequities as well as celebrate the cultural, spiritual, and physical importance of food in the surrounding or neighboring community.

DEADLINE: Friday, August 17, 2018

Applicants will be notified whether their applications have been accepted by Friday, September 14th and projects will run between September 22th, 2018 and late August 2019.

Dudley Greenhouse Advisory Committee Nominations Now Open


The Dudley Greenhouse is a special place: a 10,000-square-foot greenhouse in the Dudley neighborhood of Roxbury that serves as a year-round food production space and a resource hub for gardeners and residents of the community. The Dudley Greenhouse was built in 2004 by the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), which leases it to The Food Project to oversee vegetable production and to partner with community members and organizations to run programming.

You Raised $430,000 for Youth, Food, and Community at the Big Shindig


The Food Project kicked off its 27th growing season with the Big Shindig on Wednesday, April 25 at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts. This year, over 325 supporters came together to celebrate youth, food, and community at our annual fundraiser. Hosted by co-chairs, Michelle Dyer and Katie Ryan, and Presenting Sponsors Bank of America and Linda and Bill McQuillan, this was the most successful Big Shindig yet! The event raised over $430,000 to support youth leadership, diverse communities, and increased access to fresh, healthy, local, affordable food for all.

We felt honored to be surrounded by so many inspiring people dedicated to youth leaders, diverse communities, and sustainable local farms and food systems. We are overwhelmed by generosity and dedication of all of our supporters who make this vision a reality every day.

Support FINI Trust: IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED


GREAT NEWS! We are seeing tremendous progress on the MA Local Food Action plan and in funding that provides a 100 percent match for each SNAP dollar spent on eligible fruits and vegetables purchased at farmers markets, farm stands, mobile markets, and CSA programs in Massachusetts. The Food Project played a key role at our farmers markets in the early creation and development of SNAP matching programs starting in 2006, and we need YOUR help to realize our vision of a state-wide SNAP--matching program.

Rep. Paul Schmid, from Westport, has sponsored an amendment to the House budget for $1.48 million to support Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive (FINI) project costs. He needs co-sponsors to help support this bill and insure that it gets funded.

It's Time to Fund the Massachusetts Food Trust! Take Action TODAY


On April 13th, The House Ways & Means Committee released its draft budget yesterday afternoon and it did not include funding for the Massachusetts Food Trust Program. That doesn’t mean we can’t get funding.  Representative Dan Donahue is filing an Amendment to include funding for the MA Food Trust in the budget, we need you to contact your Representative(s) and ask them to join Rep. Donahue in co-sponsoring this amendment.

2nd Annual “Jazz Under Glass” is About Community

On Sunday, June 8, in the heart of Boston, the Dudley Greenhouse hummed and swayed to the sounds of a community that’s alive.


It was “Jazz Under Glass,” a fundraiser and community celebration in its second year at the Greenhouse. Upfront, the Fulani Hayes & The Jazz Collaborative played. In the back, hothouse tomatoes reached six feet high. Young children under the age of 10 were everywhere, and a few of them had walked to the Greenhouse on their own.
