2nd Annual Gala Featured in The Boston Globe

On Tuesday, September 10, we held our 2nd Annual Gala - Celebrate the Harvest at the WGBH Studios. The event, which featured several youth speakers and a raffle and auction, honored Will Allen, CEO of Growing Power, as the first recipent of The Food Project Leadership Award. Here is what The Boston Globe's Lifestyle section had to say on the night:

"The folks at The Food Project held their annual gala at the studios of WGBH, and paid tribute to Will Allen, a former professional basketball player and founder of Growing Power Inc. (Located outside Milwaukee, Growing Power is considered to be the country’s preeminent urban farm.) Begun in Boston in 1992, The Food Project teaches city kids how to grow their own food. This week's fund-raiser featured a slew of local chefs and restaurateurs, including AKA Bistro's Chris Chung and Christian Touche, Davio's Steve DeFillippo, EVOO's Peter McCarthy, Gordon Hamersley of Hamersley's Bistro, and Sammy the Flatbread Cart's Maryann Saporito."
